We repair most faults within 2-3 days, we realise how difficult being without your computer can be and we will always try to get it back to you as quickly as possible. In fact, we don't usually take payment until the job is done, so the quicker we fix it - the sooner we get paid!
We will always try to offer you a fixed price for the repair, for example if your laptop screen needs replacing we will give you a total price for the work before starting. In the event we need to diagnose the fault first we charge a diagnostic which is waived if you go ahead with the repair. We don’t want you to have any nasty surprises; we want you to know exactly what your repair will cost before we complete the work, but we can't afford to work for nothing either.
Unlike many of our competitors, we're happy to publish our pricing online - check out our computer repair prices page above to see typical computer repair costs.
As a business, we have bills and wages etc that need to be paid!
A bench fee is our minimum charge to cover our costs for the 1-6 hours we may spend fully diagnosing your PC and looking up part numbers, to be able to give an accurate quote to fix.
In the past we used to offer FREE diagnosis, but found that due to our high success rate in diagnosing and repairing faults, we we're being brought jobs that people couldn't resolve themselves, expecting us to spend hours getting to the bottom of a problem, only for them to walk away with the equipment to fix it themselves!
We introduced a bench fee knowing that genuine customers expect to pay to have issues resolved, and the fee covers our time and costs spent running various tests and trying basic fixes to ensure we fully identify and resolve your computer problems.
In some cases, the issue may be resolved as part of the initial testing and so we will only charge our minimum bench fee.
If we identify the problem and the customer declines the repair due to cost, then at least we haven't wasted our time running tests or looking up part numbers etc.
We have found that some problems may take days (not hours) to replicate or fully diagnose. So we now offer a TIERED bench fee.
We start at £69, but if we still haven't reached a firm diagnosis, we will ask if you are happy to go to a TIER2 bench fee of £89, and maybe even a TIER3 bench fee of £120.
At any stage you can walk away from further diagnosis or repair options and just pay the last agreed bench fee.
Ocassionally, a computer just can't be diagnosed 100% accurately (rare - but it does happen!), such as intermittent problems.
In these cases, we still charge a bench fee (as agreed), but at least the customer knows we are going to give it our best efforts to diagnose
